Residents and businesses in selected communities in Greater Accra and the Ashanti Region are expected to experience temporary electricity outages this week as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) carry out scheduled works.

The interruptions are planned from Monday, August 31, through Sunday, September 6, 2026, with different areas affected on different days. The exercises are intended to allow technical teams to undertake maintenance, repairs and upgrades to parts of the electricity network.

According to the announced schedule, some communities could experience outages lasting several hours, depending on the specific maintenance activity being undertaken in their area.

The power companies say the works are necessary to improve the stability and capacity of the national electricity system. Residents and businesses in affected locations have therefore been advised to take note of the schedules and make the necessary preparations.

The latest announcement comes amid continuing efforts by ECG and GRIDCo to carry out maintenance and infrastructure improvement works across the country.
