The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has established a nine-member committee to coordinate preparations for its upcoming 30th Media Awards, an event dedicated to recognizing outstanding work by journalists across the country.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 7, 2026, and is expected to celebrate media practitioners whose work has contributed to public education, accountability and the development of Ghana’s media landscape. The formation of the committee marks an important step in organising the anniversary edition of the prestigious event.

Journalism continues to play a crucial role in Ghanaian society, helping citizens understand national developments, examining public institutions and providing a platform for important community concerns. Through its annual awards, the GJA seeks to recognise journalists who demonstrate professionalism, dedication and commitment to responsible reporting.

The committee will be expected to help coordinate preparations for the ceremony and ensure that the event runs smoothly. Such preparations are particularly important for an anniversary edition, which offers an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of Ghanaian journalism and the challenges confronting the profession.

As the November date approaches, attention is likely to turn to the categories, nominees and journalists who will receive recognition for their contributions. The awards also provide an opportunity to encourage ethical reporting and inspire emerging journalists to uphold professional standards.
