Broken-Down Cars Could Soon Be Towed Under New NRSA Rules

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is preparing to introduce a compulsory towing arrangement for vehicle owners, with the new system expected to begin next year.

The initiative is aimed at dealing with vehicles that break down and are left on major roads, where they can obstruct traffic and create serious dangers for other motorists.

Under the proposed system, vehicle owners would have access to towing services whenever their cars become disabled on the road. The NRSA is also working on a digital platform that could help motorists locate towing operators when emergencies occur.

The Authority says the move is part of broader efforts to improve road safety and reduce avoidable hazards on Ghana’s roads.
