Residents in several communities across western Accra are being warned of a temporary interruption in their water supply after damage was recorded on a major transmission pipeline.
Ghana Water Limited says the affected areas include Mallam, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Mataheko, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman, Chorkor and nearby communities.
The disruption follows damage to a key pipeline responsible for conveying treated water to the affected parts of the capital. The situation is expected to put pressure on households and businesses that depend on the network for their daily water needs.
Residents in the affected communities have therefore been encouraged to make arrangements for water while the technical teams work to address the problem and restore normal distribution.
GWL says the interruption is temporary and is linked specifically to the pipeline damage. Customers are expected to receive normal supply once the necessary repair work has been completed.
The development comes shortly after GWL restored water to several western Accra communities following repairs to another damaged 500mm main pipeline, highlighting the pressure on parts of the city’s water distribution infrastructure.
