The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested six individuals believed to be connected to an organized armed robbery group operating in parts of the region.
The arrests were carried out in August 2026 by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit in Kumasi following intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting robbery and other violent crimes.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa”; Hadi Samed, known as “Toronto”; Issahaku Musah, alias “Isak”; Suraj Mohammed, also known as “Baba Nde” and “Trouble”; Hadi Abdul Majeed, alias “Panie”; and Foster Owusu Afriyie, known as “Joe Fraizer”.
Police investigations have reportedly connected the suspects to several street robbery cases recorded at Kaase, Ahinsan Estate, Santasi New Site, Bronikrom, Kwadaso Estate and other communities across the Ashanti Region.
As part of the investigations, officers recovered two motorcycles, machetes, knives, an iPhone 13, five keypad phones, a laptop and 33 other mobile phones. Police believe some of the recovered items may have been taken during robbery operations, while investigations have also led to the arrest of a person suspected of helping the group unlock stolen phones.
The Police Command says investigations remain underway to determine the full extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement and identify other people connected to the network. Authorities are also pursuing additional suspects and have urged anyone with information to contact the Police rather than attempting to confront the suspects themselves.
