The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into a viral video circulating on social media which allegedly shows a police officer engaging in misconduct in the Ashanti North area.
In a statement, the Service said it has taken notice of the video and has begun internal inquiries to establish the facts surrounding the incident and the identity of the officer involved. Authorities added that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken if wrongdoing is confirmed.
The Police stressed that it remains committed to upholding professional standards and ensuring that personnel conduct themselves in line with operational procedures and ethical guidelines.
The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the Service to address concerns raised by the public about misconduct captured in viral videos, with several similar cases in recent years resulting in interdictions and internal investigations.
Security analysts note that such investigations are increasingly common as social media continues to play a key role in exposing alleged misconduct among security personnel, prompting quicker institutional responses.
The Police have urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations are ongoing and to allow due process to determine the outcome of the case.
