A huge sigh of relief has finally come for the family of a five-month-old baby who was reportedly taken from his mother at the Asafo Market in Kumasi.
The infant, identified as Akwasi Banahene, was reportedly taken on Sunday, September 20, while his mother, Freda, was at her trading spot around the Cape Coast Bus Terminal section of the market.
After receiving intelligence about the child’s whereabouts, officers from the Ejisu Police Division, working alongside the Asokwa Police Command, reportedly traced the baby to Ejisu.
A woman believed to be between 37 and 40 years old was arrested while allegedly attempting to leave the area with the child. Police subsequently recovered the baby and reunited him with his family.
Thankfully, the little boy was examined and found to be in good health, bringing immense relief and happiness to his loved ones. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction.
