Asantehene Commends IGP’s ‘Black Maria’ Team for Tackling Crime in Ashanti Region

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team, popularly known as the “Black Maria,” for its dedication and effectiveness in the fight against crime across the Ashanti Region.

The revered traditional ruler commended the team for its relentless operations aimed at combating drug-related offences and dismantling criminal gangs that have posed a threat to public safety in the region.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that the security team’s efforts have contributed significantly to improving law and order, while restoring confidence among residents. He acknowledged the professionalism and commitment displayed by the officers in carrying out their mandate.

The Asantehene stressed that sustained action against criminal activities, particularly drug trafficking and gang-related violence, is essential to safeguarding lives and protecting communities.

He further encouraged the Special Operations Team to remain steadfast in its mission and continue working diligently to ensure peace and security throughout the Ashanti Region.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also urged the public to support the police by providing credible information that would assist in the identification and arrest of criminals, emphasizing that effective crime prevention requires strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

His commendation comes amid intensified police operations targeting drug peddlers, violent gangs, and other criminal networks, as authorities continue efforts to enhance security and maintain public order across the region.
