A major transport disruption has hit commuters travelling from Accra to Yeji after a bridge along the Mampong–Ejura Road reportedly collapsed following heavy rainfall on Sunday.

The incident, which occurred after hours of intense rain, has completely cut off access along the busy route, leaving several passengers and drivers stranded as traffic came to a standstill. Vehicles heading in both directions were forced to halt, with many travellers unable to continue their journeys.

The affected road serves as a major link between parts of southern and northern Ghana, making the disruption a significant inconvenience for commuters, transport operators, and businesses that rely on the route for daily movement of people and goods.

Residents and road users are calling on authorities to urgently intervene and provide alternative routes or immediate repairs to restore movement and prevent further hardship. Meanwhile, officials are yet to release a formal statement on the extent of the damage and the timeline for reconstruction.
