Ghana has hosted two senior United States defence officials for high-level discussions focused on strengthening security cooperation between the two countries. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen Ghana-US collaboration on regional security and other defence-related matters.

The engagement comes as Ghana continues to work with international partners to address emerging security threats in West Africa. The discussions are expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on security challenges affecting the region and explore areas where cooperation can be strengthened.

The visit also highlights Ghana’s position as an important security partner in the West African region, particularly at a time when instability and extremist threats in parts of the sub-region remain concerns for governments and their international partners.

Through continued engagement with the United States, Ghana is seeking to strengthen its security capabilities while maintaining cooperation with other regional and international partners.

The latest talks therefore represent another step in the relationship between Ghana and the United States, with security and regional stability remaining important areas of mutual interest.
