Two pupils of Alice Elites Academy at Assin Edubiase in the Central Region have lost their lives following a tragic road accident involving a school bus on the Assin Homaho stretch.
The deceased, a boy and a girl, were among more than forty pupils travelling in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus when the unfortunate incident occurred. The circumstances leading to the crash are currently under investigation by the authorities.
The accident left several pupils with varying degrees of injuries, prompting an emergency response from nearby residents, health workers, and security personnel. The injured pupils were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention.
According to the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), all forty injured pupils who were admitted for treatment have since been treated and discharged.
The tragic loss of the two young lives has plunged the school community, parents, and residents of Assin Edubiase into mourning. Many have expressed shock and sorrow over the incident while extending condolences to the bereaved families.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
The incident serves as a painful reminder of the need for strict adherence to road safety regulations, especially when transporting schoolchildren.
