Abu Trica Breaks Silence on Arrest and US Extradition Attempt

Ghanaian businessman and socialite Abu Trica has publicly addressed the allegations that led to his arrest and the ongoing efforts by United States authorities to extradite him over an alleged multi-million-dollar fraud case.

Speaking for the first time since his arrest, Abu Trica strongly denied claims that he was involved in an $8 million fraud scheme, insisting that the accusations against him have been exaggerated. According to him, there is no basis for reports suggesting he personally received or controlled millions of dollars.

“There is no such thing as an $8 million claim in the case against me. They themselves admitted that they gave me $13,000,” he stated while addressing the media and supporters.

The socialite, whose real name is Frederick Kumi, was arrested in Ghana in December 2025 following an extradition request from the United States. US prosecutors allege that he was part of a criminal network involved in romance scams that reportedly defrauded elderly victims of more than $8 million. Abu Trica, however, maintains his innocence and argues that the allegations do not accurately reflect his involvement in the case. He contends that the evidence presented so far does not support the widely publicized claims regarding the amount of money allegedly linked to him.
