Chinese nationals at the Jin Yuan Jia mattress manufacturing plant in Afienya were involved in a near-heated confrontation with officials from the Ghana Standards Authority during a crackdown on the company’s operations.
The tense encounter occurred when officials from the Ghana Standards Authority stormed the facility as part of an enforcement exercise aimed at ensuring compliance with national manufacturing standards. According to reports, the situation nearly escalated after some Chinese workers at the factory challenged the officials during the inspection.
The operation led to the immediate shutdown of the Jin Yuan Jia mattress manufacturing plant after authorities discovered that the company was allegedly using unapproved and substandard materials in the production of mattresses.
Officials say the move forms part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers from unsafe and low-quality products on the Ghanaian market.
