President John Dramani Mahama has joined the nation in commemorating this year’s Workers’ Day, using the occasion to express heartfelt appreciation to Ghana’s workforce while outlining a shift in government priorities toward stronger economic expansion and employment generation.
In his May Day message themed Beyond Stability: Building the New Ghana, he indicated that significant progress has been made in restoring macroeconomic stability under the #ResettingGhana agenda. He added that government efforts are now transitioning into a more determined phase focused on accelerating national development.
He explained that the initial phase of governance was largely centred on stabilising the economy following recent pressures. The next stage, he noted, will prioritise widening economic opportunities to ensure that workers experience real improvements in income levels and living conditions.
The President stressed that the focus is no longer limited to maintaining stability but now extends to expanding the economy in ways that produce direct benefits for citizens. He said the goal is to ensure that growth translates into tangible improvements in workers’ earnings and overall livelihoods.
He also praised Ghanaian workers for their resilience, dedication, and essential contribution to national development, describing them as a key pillar sustaining the country’s progress even in challenging economic circumstances.
Concluding his message, President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to productivity, job creation, and inclusive growth, while extending warm May Day wishes to workers across the country and referring to them as the driving force behind Ghana’s transformation.
