Fresh concerns have emerged within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the leadership of its General Secretary, Justin Kodua, with some party members reportedly pushing for his removal from the position.
Those behind the call are said to be dissatisfied with what they describe as a lack of assertiveness and strong public presence from the General Secretary, particularly at a time when the NPP is operating from the opposition benches.
According to the concerns being raised, the party requires a more forceful figure who can confidently defend its position, respond to attacks from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), and effectively communicate the party’s message to the Ghanaian public.
The convenor of the campaign for change reportedly believes that the current political environment requires a different approach, arguing that opposition politics demands strong communication, strategic planning and the ability to confront the governing party on major national issues.
The development is expected to generate further discussions within the NPP as the party continues efforts to reorganise its structures and strengthen its position ahead of future political contests.
The calls, however, reflect the views of some members and should not necessarily be taken as representing the position of the entire party. Kodua remains the NPP’s General Secretary unless and until the appropriate party structures decide otherwise.
