Prophet Kumchacha has responded after floodwaters inundated his church during the recent heavy rains in Accra, insisting that the incident was not caused by the church being built on a waterway.

Speaking in an interview, the outspoken preacher explained that the flooding resulted from an inadequate drainage system located behind the church. According to him, the existing gutter is too small to handle the large volume of rainwater during heavy downpours, causing water to overflow into the church premises. He stressed that claims suggesting the church was constructed on a watercourse are false.

Prophet Kumchacha used the opportunity to appeal to President John Dramani Mahama and the relevant authorities to intervene by expanding the drainage system behind the church. He believes improving the gutter will significantly reduce the risk of future flooding and protect not only the church but also nearby residents and businesses from similar disasters.

Beyond addressing the situation at his church, the preacher expressed sympathy for all Ghanaians affected by the devastating floods across parts of Accra. He encouraged victims to remain strong, hopeful, and united as they recover from their losses, while urging authorities to continue implementing long-term solutions to improve the country’s drainage infrastructure and reduce the impact of flooding during the rainy season.
