Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed concern over what he describes as a weakening relationship between the party and the government since the party’s electoral victory.

Speaking on the issue, Gbande noted that while the government has been widely praised for its performance so far, the connection between the governing administration and the party structures—especially the grassroots supporters who worked to secure victory—has not been as strong as expected.

According to him, many party loyalists and grassroots members played a crucial role in helping the NDC win power and should not be overlooked as the government settles into office.

He emphasized the need for the party to reconvene and hold internal discussions on how best to support and recognize those whose efforts contributed significantly to the election win.

Gbande’s comments have sparked fresh conversations within political circles about party unity, governance, and the importance of maintaining strong ties between elected leaders and their grassroots base after elections.
