Kpandai MP Matthew Nyindam Says NDC Is Benefiting From NPP’s Debt Restructuring
Kpandai Member of Parliament Matthew Nyindam has criticized the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that the party has done little since assuming office and is instead benefiting from economic measures introduced by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Speaking on the state of the economy and government policies, Mr. Nyindam claimed the NDC has failed to deliver significant achievements despite inheriting reforms implemented by the former government. He argued that the debt restructuring programme introduced under the NPP laid the foundation for the current administration’s economic management.
The MP also took a swipe at the government’s much-publicized “Nkoko Nkitinkiti” initiative, suggesting it has failed to produce meaningful results.
“They couldn’t say anything about the Nkoko Nkitinkiti project because they’ve chewed all the chicken,” he remarked, using the expression to suggest that the programme’s intended benefits have been exhausted or mismanaged.
Mr. Nyindam maintained that the debt restructuring programme remains one of the most significant interventions supporting Ghana’s economy today, insisting the current government is reaping the benefits of policies initiated by the previous administration.
“The debt restructuring we put in place is what they’re benefiting from today. I don’t think the NDC has done much,” he stated.
His comments add to the ongoing political debate between the NPP and NDC over economic performance, with both parties continuing to trade blame and claim credit for Ghana’s recent economic developments. Opposition figures have repeatedly argued that the current government is relying on reforms inherited from the previous administration, while the NDC maintains it is implementing policies to stabilize and grow the economy
