President William Ruto stated that Kenya’s education system remains strong and its command of English is clear, refined, and widely understood, stressing that the country is confident in how it communicates on the global stage.

He noted that effective communication is a key part of Kenya’s international identity, adding that the nation continues to maintain high standards in education and public discourse.

In a more controversial remark, he said that at times when Nigerians speak English, it may be difficult to understand without a translator, a statement that has sparked reactions due to its blunt comparison.

The comments were made in response to earlier remarks by President Bola Tinubu on Kenya’s economy, further intensifying the exchange between both leaders and generating debate across the two countries.
