The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed, has expressed concern over the growing number of applicants who have been removed from security service training after their academic credentials were subjected to verification.
According to the Minister, checks conducted with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) uncovered cases where some recruits had presented falsified examination results as part of their application documents.
He explained that the affected individuals were subsequently identified and dismissed from their respective training programmes after the discrepancies in their certificates and examination records were established.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed further disclosed that the authorities are taking the issue seriously, stressing that applicants who deliberately submit forged academic credentials cannot be allowed to gain entry into Ghana’s security services through fraudulent means.
He added that individuals found guilty of falsifying their results have been blacklisted, meaning they will not be permitted to apply for recruitment into any of Ghana’s security agencies in the future.
The Minister’s comments highlight the government’s decision to strengthen the verification process for security service recruitment and ensure that only applicants with genuine academic qualifications are admitted.
