Ghana Records GH¢46 Billion Trade Surplus in First Quarter of 2026
Ghana’s trade position recorded a major improvement during the first quarter of 2026, with the country posting a trade surplus estimated at GH¢46 billion.
Figures for the period indicate that Ghana’s total merchandise exports reached about GH¢110.3 billion, while the value of goods brought into the country was approximately GH¢64.2 billion.
The difference between exports and imports resulted in a surplus of roughly GH¢46.1 billion, signalling that Ghana earned significantly more from its exports than it spent on imported goods during the period.
The development could provide some relief to the country’s external financial position, particularly as Ghana continues efforts to strengthen its foreign exchange position and improve overall economic stability.
The strong export performance also highlights the importance of Ghana’s key export sectors and their contribution to generating foreign exchange for the economy.
