Ghana’s inflation rate has gone up again, reaching 5.2% in September 2026, compared with 5.0% recorded in August. This represents the second consecutive monthly increase after inflation dropped to 3.2% earlier in March.

The latest figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service show that food inflation also increased, moving from 3% in August to 4% in September. Food prices rose by 1.5% during the month after recording a decline in August.

Non-food items, however, remained the biggest source of pressure, accounting for about 63% of the overall inflation rate, while food contributed roughly 37%. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded the highest inflation among the major spending categories, at 10.3%.

Although the latest figure is still far below the 9.4% recorded in September 2025, the upward movement over the past two months is drawing attention. Inflation increased from 4.6% in July to 5.0% in August and now 5.2% in September.
