The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Connor McMichael to a six-year contract worth $40.5 million.
The deal, announced on Thursday, carries an average annual value of $6.75 million.
McMichael, 25, recently joined the Blues in an offseason trade with the Washington Capitals. St. Louis acquired the forward in exchange for veteran player Jordan Kyrou.
As part of the trade, the Blues also received the 16th overall pick in this year’s draft and Milton Gastrin.
The new contract represents a major commitment from St. Louis as the franchise continues to strengthen its roster ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
