Finance Minister Ato Forson Clarifies Dispute with Agric Minister, Says Differences Resolved
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has clarified that the recent public disagreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture over budgetary releases was the result of a misunderstanding, adding that the matter has since been resolved amicably.
According to Dr. Forson, he and the Agriculture Minister have held discussions and settled their differences, bringing an end to the confusion surrounding the issue. Despite the reconciliation, he maintained that the Finance Ministry’s figures regarding the amount of funds released to the Agriculture Ministry remain accurate.
His remarks come after public debate over the level of financial support provided to the Agriculture Ministry, with differing accounts from the two ministries raising questions about government funding for the sector.
The Finance Minister emphasized that while communication between the ministries may have led to the misunderstanding, there is now a common understanding, and both sides have moved forward. He stressed that the Ministry of Finance stands by its official records on the disbursement of funds.
Dr. Forson’s clarification is expected to ease concerns over the dispute and reinforce confidence in the government’s efforts to coordinate effectively across ministries while ensuring transparency in public financial management.
