GRIDCo Explains Cause of Fresh Nationwide Power Outage
The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has explained the cause of the widespread power outage that affected several parts of the country in the early hours of Thursday, August 20, 2026.
According to GRIDCo, the disruption occurred after a disturbance was recorded on Ghana’s National Interconnected Transmission System at about 4:30 a.m. The incident resulted in power interruptions across a number of communities and brought renewed attention to the stability of the country’s electricity supply.
