Agalga: Afenyo-Markin Has No Seniority Over Me in Parliament
New Majority Leader James Agalga has asserted that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin does not have any seniority advantage over him in Parliament, insisting that the two lawmakers entered the House at the same time.
According to Mr Agalga, his parliamentary experience is comparable to that of the Minority Leader, and he therefore does not consider Afenyo-Markin to be senior to him based on their time in Parliament.
“I arrived in Parliament at the same time as Afenyo-Markin, so he does not enjoy seniority over me,” Mr Agalga stated.
The Majority Leader further stressed that he would not allow himself to be intimidated or bullied in the discharge of his parliamentary responsibilities.
“I am not the type that can be bullied,” he added.
His comments underscore the firm stance he intends to take in his dealings with the Minority side as both leaders navigate parliamentary debates, negotiations and disagreements.
The remarks are likely to attract attention as the Majority and Minority leaderships continue to engage on issues of national importance and parliamentary business.
