The attack took place on Monday, April 27, 2026, when a convoy transporting around 140 civilians from Bawku to Bolgatanga was ambushed by unknown gunmen. Three civilians were killed in the assault and one other was injured. The soldiers on escort duty fought back successfully, repelling the attackers and killing seven of the assailants in the process. During the pursuit that followed, security forces recovered a G3 automatic rifle, two loaded magazines of 20 rounds each, and 176 additional rounds of ammunition from a fleeing suspect who had taken refuge in a mosque. Speaking on Channel One News, the Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, confirmed that all 21 suspects in custody are actively assisting with investigations. She described the situation as still evolving and indicated that operations to track down other individuals linked to the attack remain ongoing. Captain Arhin also used the opportunity to issue a firm warning to the public against interfering with or attacking security personnel on official assignment, stressing that doing so would only lead to needless loss of life. The Ghana Armed Forces extended condolences to the families of the civilians who lost their lives and wished the injured a full recovery. The military added that it is collaborating with other security agencies to stabilise the Binduri area and prevent any further incidents.Sonnet 4.6
