The Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division has intercepted and seized a large consignment of Apple products following an intelligence-led operation aimed at preventing the evasion of import duties and taxes.
The shipment reportedly contained more than 1,545 Apple devices and related products, covering various models. The consignment is believed to have entered Ghana through neighbouring Togo after being imported from Dubai.
According to information surrounding the seizure, the movement of the goods was allegedly part of an attempt to bring the products into Ghana without paying the required customs duties and taxes.
The interception highlights the continued efforts by Ghana Customs to monitor the movement of goods across the country’s borders and crack down on suspected attempts to circumvent the payment of government revenue.
The seized Apple products are expected to remain in the custody of the relevant authorities as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding their importation and determine the appropriate action under Ghana’s customs laws.
