Ohemaa Sappama Angela, who represented the Bono East Region in the 2023 edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB), has reportedly been involved in a theft allegation at Old Tafo in Kumasi.
According to reports circulating online, the former GMB contestant was allegedly apprehended at a shop after she was accused of taking an Abaya lace and a ladies’ dress without paying for them. The incident reportedly attracted a crowd, with videos from the scene subsequently circulating widely on social media.
Footage from the incident reportedly shows Ohemaa surrounded by several people as tensions appeared to rise. In another video, some residents were seen intervening and attempting to move her away from the crowd after she was allegedly confronted over the items.
The situation reportedly became more heated as she was being taken away from the gathering. According to a reports her wig was pulled off and she appeared to be struck on the head during the confusion, before residents succeeded in shielding her from further confrontation.
The circumstances surrounding the allegation, including what exactly happened inside the shop and whether the items were ultimately recovered, have not been independently established. As of the latest reports, the Ghana Police Service had not publicly confirmed the alleged theft or announced any formal charge against Ohemaa. She had also not publicly responded to the allegation at the time of those reports.
The incident has generated significant reactions on social media because of Ohemaa’s previous public profile as a contestant on Ghana’s Most Beautiful. She represented Bono East during the 2023 competition, which gave her considerable visibility among viewers across the country.
The case has also renewed discussions about mob action, with some social media users arguing that anyone accused of an offense should be handed over to the police rather than subjected to physical attacks by a crowd.
