Tension is mounting in Jamestown as parents and guardians of students at Wisdom Academy demand immediate intervention from education authorities. The uproar follows allegations that the school’s management collected registration fees for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) but failed to complete the registration process for the affected students.
According to several parents, they paid the required fees months in advance with the expectation that their wards would be duly registered for the national examination. However, recent checks reportedly revealed that the names of many students were missing from the official BECE register, leaving them at risk of missing a crucial academic milestone.
Some guardians have expressed frustration and disappointment, describing the situation as both negligent and unfair to the students, who have spent years preparing for the examination. “Our children have studied hard, and now their future is being jeopardized due to no fault of theirs,” one parent lamented.
The incident has sparked calls for swift action from the Ghana Education Service and other relevant authorities. Concerned parties are urging officials to investigate the matter thoroughly, ensure accountability, and explore emergency measures that would allow the affected students to sit for the exams.
Education advocates warn that failure to resolve the issue promptly could have long-term consequences for the students, including delays in their academic progression. Many are therefore appealing for urgent intervention to protect the rights and future of the candidates caught in the situation.
As pressure builds, stakeholders are watching closely to see how authorities will respond to what is increasingly being described as a serious breach of trust by the school’s management.
