Kofi Okyere-Darko, Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President of Ghana, has assured South Africans living in Ghana that their safety and businesses remain protected despite growing conversations surrounding tensions involving some African nationals abroad.

Speaking on the matter, he stated that there would be no attacks, intimidation, or demonstrations targeted at South Africans residing in Ghana. According to him, Ghana remains committed to maintaining peace, unity, and strong diplomatic relations with all African countries.

“Nothing is going to happen to South Africans living in Ghana, their businesses will run as it should,” he said, emphasizing that Ghana has no intention of encouraging hostility against foreign nationals.

He further added that there would not be any protests in Ghana aimed at forcing South Africans to leave the country, stressing that the nation continues to uphold its reputation as a welcoming and peaceful African state.

The comments come at a time when discussions around xenophobia and tensions between African nationals in different countries continue to raise concerns across the continent. However, Ghanaian authorities appear determined to prevent any form of retaliation or division within the country.

Kofi Okyere-Darko also highlighted Ghana’s continued role in promoting the “Borderless Africa” vision — an agenda focused on African unity, free movement, economic cooperation, and peaceful coexistence among citizens of different nations.

Over the years, Ghana has introduced several policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening ties within Africa, including easier travel arrangements, investment opportunities for Africans in the diaspora, and campaigns promoting Pan-African unity.

Many social media users have praised the statement, describing it as a mature and diplomatic approach that reinforces Ghana’s image as one of Africa’s leading voices for unity and stability.
