Reports indicate that thousands of students have faced difficulties during the placement process, prompting some parents and students to visit designated centres in Accra to seek assistance and resolve problems affecting their placements.
The situation has generated questions about whether the available spaces are sufficient and how effectively the placement system is matching students with their preferred schools. Earlier figures indicated that hundreds of thousands of places were available for the 2026 admission exercise, but challenges have still emerged for some families.
The issue is particularly sensitive because placement determines where thousands of young Ghanaians will continue their education. Parents who have already spent money preparing their children for secondary school are understandably concerned about delays, unavailable choices and the additional costs that may arise from the process.
Education stakeholders are therefore facing renewed pressure to ensure that the placement system operates smoothly and that students who qualify for admission are given clear and timely solutions when problems arise.
