Two Suspected Robbers Killed, Nigerian National Arrested in Accra
Two suspected members of a robbery gang have been killed, while a Nigerian national has been arrested following an intelligence -led police operation in Accra.
The Ghana Police Service identified the arrested suspect as Augustine Okechuku Maazi, while the two others were reportedly shot dead during the operation.
According to the police, the suspects were linked to an alleged attempt to carry out a bank robbery. The operation was conducted after intelligence gathered by the security agency pointed to the planned criminal activity.
The police intervention prevented the alleged robbery attempt and resulted in the arrest of Maazi, while two other suspects died during the operation.
The latest development highlights the police service’s efforts to use intelligence led operations to disrupt organized criminal activities before they are carried out.
Investigations are expected to continue as the police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the involvement of the arrested suspect.
