President John Dramani Mahama has set March 2027 as the target for the completion and commissioning of the first 700 housing units under the revived Saglemi Housing Project.
The President gave the assurance after inspecting ongoing redevelopment works at the Saglemi site, which has remained largely incomplete for several years due to various challenges.
According to Mahama, the government is working with LMI Group under a private-sector arrangement to revive the project and transform the abandoned estate into a functional residential community.
The first phase is expected to deliver 1,500 housing units by December 2027, with the initial 700 units targeted for completion by March. The government hopes the first beneficiaries will be able to take possession around Easter next year.
The Saglemi project was originally planned as a 5,000-unit affordable housing development, and the government says it intends to complete the remaining units after the first phase.
