President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to install advanced security scanners at Terminals 2 and 3 of Accra International Airport as part of efforts to improve efficiency and convenience for travelers.

According to the President, the new scanners will significantly simplify the airport screening process by allowing passengers to leave laptops, liquids, and other electronic devices inside their bags during security checks. Travelers will also no longer be required to remove shoes, belts, and similar personal items before passing through security.

The move is expected to reduce long queues and waiting times at the airport, making travel smoother and less stressful for both local and international passengers.

President Mahama noted that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernize Ghana’s aviation infrastructure and align airport services with international standards, while enhancing the overall travel experience at one of West Africa’s busiest airports.

The planned installation has been welcomed by many travelers, who believe the upgrade will bring greater comfort and efficiency to air travel in Ghana.
