A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), KOKA, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using the arrest of Dennis Miracles Aboagye as a political distraction to divert public attention from pressing national issues.

Speaking to journalists at the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after Dennis Miracles Aboagye was invited and subsequently arrested in connection with alleged corruption-related investigations, KOKA questioned the timing of the action.

According to him, the NDC government is deliberately drawing public attention toward the arrest while Ghanaians continue to grapple with the devastating effects of recent floods and the disappointment surrounding the Black Stars’ elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“The NDC is trying to use Dennis’s arrest to divert attention from the flood disaster and the Black Stars’ World Cup elimination,” KOKA told the media.

He argued that the government should be prioritising efforts to address the hardships faced by flood victims and responding to concerns raised after Ghana’s exit from the World Cup instead of engaging in what he described as politically motivated actions.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye is currently assisting EOCO with investigations into alleged corruption-related matters. Authorities have not yet disclosed full details of the case, and the investigations remain ongoing.

The arrest has generated mixed reactions, with supporters of both the NPP and NDC debating whether the investigation is a legitimate anti-corruption exercise or politically motivated.

EOCO has yet to issue a comprehensive statement outlining the allegations against Dennis Miracles Aboagye as investigations continue.
