Motorists across Ghana are set to enjoy some relief after several Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) began reducing fuel prices in the first pricing window of July, following favourable market conditions.
Leading the reductions is GOIL PLC, which has slashed the price of petrol from GH¢13.87 to GH¢12.79 per litre, representing a reduction of GH¢1.08. Diesel has also been reduced from GH¢15.95 to GH¢15.35 per litre, offering further savings for consumers.
Another major player, Star Oil, has indicated that it will also cut pump prices in the coming days. The company told Joy Business that it intends to sell petrol at the price floor approved by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Several other OMCs have also signalled plans to review their prices downward as competition intensifies within the downstream petroleum sector.
The latest price reductions are expected to ease transportation costs and reduce operating expenses for businesses that rely heavily on fuel. Industry analysts say the adjustments have been influenced by favourable market conditions, including lower benchmark prices and regulatory price revisions.
The downward adjustment comes as consumers continue to hope that sustained stability in the fuel market will translate into lower transport fares and reduced prices of goods and services in the coming weeks.
