Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has strongly dismissed recent threats made by communicators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suggesting they could arm themselves and make the country ungovernable if ongoing legal actions against some of their members continue.
Speaking on the matter, Dr. Ayine said such remarks would be treated with the “contempt they deserve,” stressing that no amount of political pressure or intimidation would derail the government’s commitment to justice and accountability.
He further rejected claims that ORAL is failing, insisting that the anti-corruption initiative remains active and effective. According to him, the legal proceedings currently underway are proof that the system is working and that those accused of wrongdoing are being held accountable.
Dr. Ayine added that the mounting pressure within the NPP is a clear sign that party members recognize the seriousness of the prosecutions. He noted that his office has been thorough and diligent in handling the cases, leaving some party officials worried that their members could ultimately face jail time.
