Construction has officially commenced on the 24-hour Economy Constituency Market in the Okaikwei North Constituency, marking another step in the government’s efforts to improve local trading infrastructure and promote round-the-clock economic activity.
Contractors have already moved to the project site and are actively carrying out preliminary and construction works, with the aim of completing the market within the scheduled timeframe.
The project forms part of the government’s 24-hour Economy initiative, which seeks to create modern commercial spaces, stimulate business growth, generate employment opportunities, and enhance economic productivity across the country.
When completed, the Okaikwei North Constituency Market is expected to provide traders with improved facilities, create a safer and more conducive trading environment, and support businesses operating beyond traditional working hours.
Residents and traders in the constituency have welcomed the commencement of the project, expressing optimism that the new market will boost commercial activities, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the area.
The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the project so that traders and the wider community can begin benefiting from the modern market infrastructure.
