Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has sparked conversations after promising employment opportunities to members of TESCON and their unemployed relatives if elected as the party’s National Chairman.

Speaking to TESCON members and students of the University of Ghana Business School, Wontumi declared that should he become National Chairman and Mahamudu Bawumia go on to win the presidency, he believes God will use him as a channel to create jobs for party faithful and their families.

His remarks, which have quickly gone viral on social media, were seen by supporters as a strong reassurance of his commitment to the welfare of party members, particularly the youth who continue to play a key role in the party’s grassroots mobilization and electoral efforts.

However, critics have questioned the practicality and implications of such promises, with some arguing that employment opportunities should be based on merit rather than political affiliation. Others view the statement as part of the intense political rhetoric often associated with internal party campaigns.

As the NPP prepares for its internal leadership contests, Chairman Wontumi’s pledge adds another layer to the race, with candidates increasingly appealing to delegates and party supporters through bold promises and ambitious visions.
