Broadcast journalist Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, has officially announced his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Gomoa West Constituency.

Speaking publicly about his political ambition, Captain Smart expressed confidence that he would secure victory in the party’s primaries and ultimately become the Member of Parliament for Gomoa West.

“I will contest the Gomoa West NDC parliamentary primaries, and I will win and become the Member of Parliament for the Gomoa West Constituency. The cry is so loud, and I have started listening to the people,” he declared.

According to the outspoken broadcaster, his decision to enter active politics follows persistent calls from residents of Gomoa West who believe he can champion the constituency’s development and represent their interests in Parliament.

Captain Smart also highlighted several development initiatives he says he is already undertaking for the benefit of the constituency. These include the drilling of 42 boreholes to improve access to clean drinking water, the construction of classroom blocks to support education, and the provision of free Wi-Fi in selected communities to enhance digital connectivity.

He indicated that these projects reflect his commitment to improving the lives of the people even before officially assuming any political office.

His announcement marks a significant transition from media into frontline politics and is expected to generate considerable interest ahead of the NDC parliamentary primaries. Captain Smart has built a strong public profile over the years through his outspoken commentary on governance, corruption, and national development.

With his declaration now public, political observers and residents of Gomoa West will be closely watching how his campaign unfolds in the race to secure the NDC’s parliamentary nomination.
