Mahama Announces Construction of Bolgatanga Airport to Begin Before End of 2026

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that construction of the long-awaited Bolgatanga Airport in the Upper East Region is expected to commence before the end of 2026.

Speaking during his tour of the region on Thursday, August 13, President Mahama said the project is currently at the procurement stage, with the Ghana Airports Company Limited expected to secure the necessary approvals by October. He added that he would return to the region to officially cut the sod for the project.

The airport is expected to take about 24 months to complete once construction begins, although the contractor has indicated that the work could be finished ahead of schedule.
