The Akim Oda Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Station Officer, Chief Inspector Frempong Ayeh Fergus, has cautioned members of the public against using taxis to transport processed or unprocessed meat, fish, and livestock, stating that the practice is a violation of the law.
According to the police officer, taxis are designated for transporting passengers and not for carrying items such as meat, fish, or live animals. He explained that transporting such goods in commercial passenger vehicles poses serious public health and sanitation concerns, while also breaching transport regulations.
Chief Inspector Frempong Ayeh Fergus urged taxi drivers and the general public to comply with the law by using appropriate vehicles specifically licensed and designed for transporting food products and livestock. He stressed that adherence to these regulations helps protect public health and ensures safety on the roads.
He further warned that individuals found violating the law could face sanctions, emphasizing that the MTTD will continue to enforce road traffic regulations to promote discipline and safeguard the welfare of the public.
