NPP’s Paul Yandoh Accuses Mahama Government of Trying to Disrupt Party Elections with National Clean-Up Exercise

The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama over the decision to hold a nationwide clean-up exercise on the same day the NPP is conducting its internal elections.

According to Yandoh, the timing of the national exercise raises concerns and appears to have been deliberately chosen to interfere with the party’s electoral process. He argued that organizing both events on the same day could create unnecessary challenges for party members and officials participating in the internal elections.

He maintained that in the interest of fairness and democratic principles, the government should have considered rescheduling the clean-up exercise to avoid any clash with the NPP’s planned activities. Yandoh stressed that political parties should be allowed to conduct their internal democratic processes without what he described as avoidable interference.

His comments have sparked debate, with supporters and critics offering differing views on whether the scheduling was merely coincidental or politically motivated. The government has not publicly indicated that the exercise was intended to affect the NPP’s internal elections.
