The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has criticised the government over its decision to discontinue the criminal case against former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedinam Tamakloe.
According to Nana B, the move raises serious concerns about fairness and equal application of justice, especially after Sedinam Tamakloe had previously been convicted and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
He alleged that the government’s decision was politically motivated, claiming that the former MASLOC CEO had been granted relief because the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is now in power.
Drawing a comparison with the legal challenges facing the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Nana B argued that the treatment of the two cases exposes what he described as political bias within the justice system.
He maintained that while Sedinam Tamakloe’s case has been discontinued under the current administration, Chairman Wontumi continues to face what he considers unfair treatment because he is a leading opposition figure.
Nana B called on the government to ensure that the country’s justice system remains independent and free from political interference, stressing that the law should be applied equally to all citizens regardless of their political affiliation.
His comments add to the growing political debate surrounding the government’s handling of high-profile legal cases, with both the NPP and NDC continuing to trade accusations over the administration of justice.
