Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has disclosed that the government is preparing legal action to secure compensation for Ghanaians who lost personal belongings and property in South Africa.
According to the Minister, the move forms part of efforts to protect the interests of affected Ghanaian nationals and ensure that those who suffered losses receive the support and justice they deserve. He explained that government officials are gathering information and assessing the extent of the losses as part of preparations for the legal process.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized that the government remains committed to the welfare of Ghanaians abroad and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to seek redress for victims. He encouraged affected individuals to cooperate with authorities by providing details and evidence of any items or property they may have lost.
The planned legal action comes amid growing concerns over the experiences of some Ghanaians in South Africa, with authorities seeking accountability and fair compensation for those impacted.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry is expected to provide further updates as the process advances and consultations continue with legal representatives and affected persons.
