A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu (popularly known as KOKA), has sparked public debate after making strong remarks about the leadership of Ghana football, following the Black Stars’ exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
KOKA, who is known in political and media circles as an NPP communicator and activist, accused the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of contributing to the decline of Ghana football. He specifically targeted the President of the Kurt Okraku, questioning his leadership and alleging mismanagement within the football governing body.
In his comments, he also raised concerns about transparency, asking what happened to football jerseys reportedly supplied by FIFA, a claim that has not been independently verified. His remarks suggested that Ghana football is not in the same state it once was, blaming poor administration for the Black Stars’ struggles on the global stage.
KOKA further extended his criticism to the Sports Minister, accusing him of being passive in addressing the challenges facing sports development in the country. He called for stronger oversight and urgent reforms to restore confidence in Ghana’s sporting administration.
The comments come at a time of heightened scrutiny on the Ghana Football Association following Ghana’s World Cup elimination. Reactions to KOKA’s statements have been divided, with some sharing his frustrations while others argue that such claims should be properly substantiated to avoid further tension in the football community.
