Court of Appeal Strikes Out AG’s Stay Application in Sedina Tamakloe Case

The Court of Appeal has struck out an application filed by the Attorney-General seeking to temporarily halt the implementation of its earlier decision that acquitted and discharged former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu.

The application was withdrawn by the State during proceedings on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, prompting the three-member panel of the Court of Appeal to strike it out.

The Attorney-General had sought the stay after the Court of Appeal overturned Ms Tamakloe-Attionu’s previous conviction and sentence. The former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) boss had earlier been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the High Court after being convicted in connection with financial offences.

However, the Court of Appeal subsequently overturned that conviction and ordered her acquittal and discharge after finding that the prosecution had not established the charges against her beyond reasonable doubt.

The State had challenged that decision and sought to prevent the acquittal from taking immediate effect while pursuing further legal action at the Supreme Court.

With the stay application now withdrawn and struck out, the latest development adds another significant chapter to a case that has attracted considerable political and public attention.

The State’s broader challenge to the Court of Appeal’s decision remains a separate legal matter, meaning the dispute surrounding Ms Tamakloe-Attionu’s case could continue through the courts.
