The Twifo Praso Magistrate Court has fined four teachers GH¢3,000 each after finding them guilty of various offences related to examination malpractice during the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The court, presided over by Cephas Atidzoe, convicted the teachers for their involvement in acts that undermined the integrity of the examination process.
Among those convicted was David Kwabena Mensah, who was found to have leaked a BECE question paper by taking a photograph of it and sharing it on WhatsApp. Another teacher, Ruth Ampah, was cited for allegedly dictating answers to candidates during the examination.
The two other teachers, Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye, were convicted for conspiring to unlawfully possess examination materials at the Twifo Praso Senior High School examination centre.
The ruling sends a strong warning to invigilators and teachers involved in national examinations, as authorities intensify efforts to clamp down on examination malpractice and protect the credibility of Ghana’s education system.
