President John Dramani Mahama has stressed that Ghana’s economic recovery and development will only be sustainable if they are accompanied by integrity, discipline and strong moral values.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on Tuesday, July 1, President Mahama said the country’s progress should not be measured solely by economic indicators or infrastructure projects but also by the ethical standards and everyday conduct of its citizens.
According to the President, prosperity built without integrity is fragile, while development that lacks discipline cannot stand the test of time. He also warned that economic growth without justice leaves many citizens behind and undermines national progress.
President Mahama urged Ghanaians to embrace honesty, accountability and a sense of shared responsibility, noting that the nation’s future depends on the daily choices made by ordinary citizens in their homes, workplaces and communities.
He said building the Ghana citizens aspire to requires every individual to uphold values that promote national unity, trust and responsible leadership rather than relying only on government interventions.
The President further encouraged both public officials and citizens to remain committed to ethical behaviour, saying lasting national transformation can only be achieved when economic reforms are matched by moral renewal.
His remarks formed part of a broader call for national reflection, unity and responsible citizenship as Ghana continues efforts to strengthen its economy and improve the lives of its people.
